16” Egyptian Fly necklace, Carnelian

     Inspired by the Egyptian Fly necklace in the 18th Dynasty (above), from the burial of Queen Ah-hotpe, Western Thebes.

     The gold Fly was a honorary award given to the Egyptian military for persistence in attacking the enemy.

     24K gold-plate over pewter, enhanced by Carnelian beads.  Measures approximately 16".
