Japanese Tsuba Heron earrings

       Japanese Samurai had elaborate hand guards on their swords.   Inspired by a delicate open work sword-guard hilt, with the heron spread wings image.   Japan, late 17th century.
       24 Karat gold-plate over pewter.   Gold-filled ear-wires.
  Measures approximately 1.1" x 1.25".
