The symbol of Romanov Dynasty rule this double-headed eagle is adapted from a Fabergé gold, enamel and moonstone cigarette case. An ancient Byzantine emblem, the double-headed eagle was adopted by the Romanovs as their dynastic symbol when they came to power in 1613. Original image on left.
